Turkey’s imports of steel flat products including hot rolled, cold rolled, coated and narrow strip steel, totaled 567,015 tons in March, rising by 22% from a month ago and jumping by 60.5% year on year, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the country’s import revenues generated by steel flat products totaled US$378 million, rising by 22.8% from a month ago and soaring by 41.9% year on year. In the first quarter of this year, the country’s imports of steel flat products totaled 1.5 million tons, jumping by 38.3% year on year. The import revenues were at US$1 billion, rising by 22.9% year on year. In the given period of time, the country’s imports of hot rolled steel flats from Russia totaled 337,624 tons, more than double year on year.
